Lets see, I was born the son of a poor dirt farmer.just kidding. Born and raised in NW Pennsylvania 1963, oldest of 3 children. One brother and one sister. Graduated from Lock Haven University with BS in Management Science. Besides riding I like to play golf and do some reading(Stephen King, James Patterson, John Grisham). Also like to travel when possible. Single, no kids, never married but always lookin
Bought my first bike, a Suzuki Intruder, while in PA. It was the first, an hopefully the only, time I laid a bike down. After getting it off the trailer and riding it around the back of the house, was so excited I forgot to put my feet down when I stopped, Dad was at the door watching and just shaking his head saying just be glad your mother did not see that. Sold that one after about two years and did not get another one till I moved south.
Came south to work with Langboard in Willacoochee as Sales Manager with the MDF plant starting up. Currently still in Willacoochee with TLC Mouldings, a division of Langboard that makes primed interior moulding/trim.
I am currently on my third bike while in Georgia, started out with a Honda Shadow after getting the bug to ride again. I had always said I would never spend the kind of money for a Harley but have my brothers wife to blame for not following that. She knew I traveled by a lot of harley dealerships during my travels so asked me to pick up some tshirts for her dad. Finally had to cry uncle as I went by more than she thought. With my being in the shops and looking at the bikes more and more finally broke down and bought a 2002 Softail Deuce. Then bought a 2005 Deuce which I currently ride, and finally sold the '02 last year.
When the dealership opened up in Tifton got involved with starting up the HOG chapter there. I had been a member in Albany since buying the '02, but Tifton was a little closer.
Started out as assistant director of the chapter and have served as chapter director for the last two years. Have attended harley's POT (primary officer training) for HOG Chapters 3 years. It is a great experience and they put on a first class training session. We rode to New Orleans for the first one, then Dallas, TX the following year(it was to be in Biloxi, but Katrina sort of changed that), and last year we were in Birmingham, Al. Biggest satisfaction is helping out the cause we support. The Hahira Sheriffs Youth Home. For the past two years we have done a major fund raiser for the local ranch as well as riding over to visit with the children and cook some burgers and dogs for them and the house parents and staff. We do not know who enjoys the visits more, the adults or the kids. We give as many of them that want a ride on the bikes and provide some monetary support just before the holidays each year. We have been fortunate enough to have been able to present over $6000 each of the past two years. The chapter also does several rides each month and a few over nite trips through the year. We also try and support as many of the other fund raiser type ride events as we can in the area.
I personally like trying to hit as many of the area events each year that I can . Bike Week, Biketoberfest, Thunder Beach, Bainbridge, Leesburg are just a few. I also try and make sure never to miss the Cf Ride to Live, Bikes & Badges, MDA and March of Dimes ride to the Beach events and the toy runs.
Goal is to ride in all 50 states and as many countries as possible. Have 15 states and just but 2 countries so far, but it has been a blast. Got Hawaii out of the way two years ago, so the hard one is out of the way.
